Migrant Assistance

The Community of Congregations in Oak Park and River Forest has established a Migrant Response Portal through which members of the community can volunteer their time and expertise and donate money and supplies to support our new neighbors.

The Migrant Response Portal is a work in progress – functionality and features are being developed in real-time to provide an immediate opportunity for volunteers and donors to join the registry of fellow engaged community members who are mobilizing to provide support services. The Portal will continue to be developed in the coming days and weeks as sustainable systems and processes are built and activated. So, please check the Portal frequently for updates and new opportunities for engagement.

The Migrant Support Portal is accessed through the Community of Congregations website at www.communityofcongregations.org. Click on the Migrant Response link at the top of the home page. You will be taken to a form where you can register yourself and your interests for near-term involvement. Please share this site with others in your network and encourage them to utilize this Portal as we work together to mobilize hundreds of fellow community members in support of our migrant guests.

Additionally, financial donations can be made via the Community of Congregations website by clicking the “give” button.

While the near-term goal of this portal is to serve as the primary and centralized collection point for volunteers and donated resources, the portal is not intended nor ready to immediately replace the amazing mobilization efforts that many community organizations and groups have activated. The Community of Congregations is working with these groups to align resources and identify the specific strengths and roles of each organization. While the structure of this collaboration begins to take shape, community members are asked to register themselves and their interests via the Community of Congregations Migrant Support Portal and make financial donations through the Community of Congregations giving function while still maintaining contact and supporting the groups with whom they are currently affiliated.
