October Greetings from Your "God Is Still Speaking Youth Group Ministry"

Registration is now open for the 2019 Summer Youth Mission Trip to Milwaukee!

Our trip will be July 21-26, 2019 and once again we will be partnering with YouthWorks. All students who have completed 6th grade in spring 2019 through seniors who have graduated in the spring of 2019 are welcome to join us.

We will have the opportunity to serve alongside some great organizations that are working to support the Milwaukee community. These organizations include summer programs for kids, soup kitchens, local gardens, and intergenerational care centers.

In the evenings we’ll have the opportunity to participate in a church service, prepare and serve a community meal, go to the beach of Lake Michigan, and hear from a community friend who works with teenagers and adults that grew up in the inner city.

The cost of the trip is $324 per youth and there are scholarships available. Registration deadline is November 6th. If you are interested in learning more and potentially registering for the trip, contact Gloria.cox@pilgrimoakpark.org.

All Middle School and High School students (and their friends) are invited to join us for two activities this month.

The Young Adult Book Club will meet at Pilgrim after worship on Sunday, October 21st, 12:30-2:00. We’ll have a light lunch (please bring $5 to help cover the cost) and discuss “A Night Divided” by New York Times bestselling author Jennifer A. Nielsen. It’s a story of intrigue and courage – and I’m sure we’ll have a great discussion! The books are available at the Main Branch of the Oak Park Library – just ask for Pilgrim Young Adult book club at the front desk.

Monday@theMovies is back!!! Join us on Monday, October 29th, 5:00-7:15 p.m. to close out our observance of Hispanic Heritage month with a Mexican themed meal and the movie Coco! This is a movie about what family means. A movie about the choices we make, and the roads not taken. I look forward to our discussion😊. To RSVP and for more information, email gloria.cox@pilgrimoakpark.org.
