Welcoming our New Assistant Pastor, Rev. JErmaine Pearson!

Rev. Jermaine L. Pearson is a preacher, writer, actor, singer, and spoken word artist who can be seen around Chicago and New England spreading the Gospel through various artistic forms. Rev. Jermaine was the first Black male to be ordained through the Rhode Island Association of the United Church of Christ and recently relocated back home to Chicago.

From 2017 to 2022, Rev. Jermaine served as the Associate University Chaplain for the Protestant Community at Brown University, where he provided pastoral care for students, staff, and faculty at the university and served as the choir director for the gospel choir. He was also the Associate Pastor for Beneficent Congregational Church from January 2020 to January 2024.

Rev. Jermaine is an advocate for the arts and personally infuses art into ministry as a means of social justice. When not serving in the church, Rev. Jermaine often can be found performing in local theater productions in Chicago, Nashville, Boston, and Providence or performing original spoken word pieces.

Rev. Jermaine earned his Bachelor of Arts in Marketing Communication-Public Relations from Columbia College Chicago in 2009 and completed his Master of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 2016. Additionally, he holds a Master of Science in Management & Leadership from Pepperdine University. He looks forward to serving as the Assistant Pastor of Faith Formation at Pilgrim and being actively involved in the community.

GIVE

The benefits of a generous life are demonstrative, verifiable and authentic. At the end of the day we seem to be hard-wired to give. That’s the way God created us. God, the original giver, the one who held nothing back invites us to participate in the joy of giving.
