Exodus is unusual in that its hero is not really the focus. By the end of chapter 4, Moses’s transformation from privileged prince to leader of a slave rebellion is fairly complete. The burning bush certainly helps! But the real story is that it’s never about us. It is and must always be about freeing people (including us) from oppressive systems and powers. (Ex. 3-4)
