The Sacred Conversations on Race Committee (SCOR) invites you to a virtual viewing and discussion of an interview with Heather McGhee, who is an economic and social policy expert and author of The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together. McGhee is Board Chair of Color of Change, the nation’s largest online racial justice organization, and the former president of Demos, an inequality-focused think tank.
In The Sum of Us, McGhee discusses the “zero-sum paradigm”, the common but false idea that any gains for Black Americans must mean losses for white Americans. Ultimately, she argues for racial unity, which will yield a “Solidarity Dividend”, a resulting enrichment for all Americans.
