In Christian thought, Liberation Theology rejects legalism that arises from literal readings of ancient texts like Leviticus. But it’s more than that, because spiritual freedom also opposes power and privilege that enable legalism. How does the liberty we draw from faith become compromised by rigid religiosity? How do we resist conformist ideologies that inhibit freedom? This week we look at the naïve surrender of God-given freedoms and individualism.
